States should give decomposers to farmers to prevent stubble burning: Delhi CM

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh harvest paddy in the month of October and then set their fields on fire to clear rice stubble causing air pollution.


 In view of the upcoming winter season where stubble burning leads to several problems causing harm to the environment in the capital city, Delhi Chief Minister urged the states to provide decomposers to farmers to prevent stubble burning.

On Monday Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, urged the Centre to direct other states to start providing farmers with a proprietary microbial solution that would turn rice stubble into natural manure and prevent air pollution in the capital city. Whereas the capital witnesses suffocating environment during the winter season due to stubble burning in nearby states.

According to the statement, while addressing a press conference Arvind Kejriwal said,'' The WAPCOS inspected 15 villages in four districts of Delhi and interviewed 79 farmers to understand whether the new decomposers have helped or not. The Central Government agency found that the farmers in Delhi are very happy with the results with these bio decomposers."

Meanwhile, every year in winters, Delhi witnesses smog because of the stubble burning. The farmers across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh harvest paddy in the month of October and then set their fields on fire to clear rice stubble.
