"Strict action will be taken against those who prepared liquor," says: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

21 died due to consuming spurious liquor in Bihar, the investigation is held


Patna, Bihar: NDA Govt. has set a meeting after the sudden death of 21 due to consumption of spurious liquor in the Champaran District of Bihar.  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday held a review meeting regarding the prohibition of liquor in the state.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Mr Kumar said, "A review meeting was held regarding the prohibition of liquor at 'Sankalp' at 1, Anne Marg."

According to the report, almost 21 people died out of 24 by consuming spurious liquor.

The deceased include 10 people in Bettiah and 11 people in Gopalganj.

State Minister Sunil Kumar notified that two more people are suspected to be dead due to the consumption of spurious liquor in Bettiah. But, it cannot be confirmed yet as their post mortem reports are still awaited.

"Some people have died under strange circumstances. The cause of death is not confirmed as post-mortem reports are still awaited. Three teams are probing the case," said the senior officer Anand Kumar.

According to CM Nitish Kumar, strict actions will be taken against those who are behind this dirty work (Preparation of liquor).

The investigation has started after the incident in the West part of the Champaran district. Raids were held in 60 locations in Bihar's Gopalganj district and 19 people have been arrested so far in connection with the hooch tragedy.

The NDA Govt. is working on this serious issue.

In  meantime, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav had earlier termed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's liquor ban law as a "complete failure."
