Violence Erupts: 3 Injured in Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Clash


Clashes between two groups on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in Delhi resulted in injuries to at least three students.

 

The incident occurred during a general body meeting at the School of Language, on the night between Thursday and Friday.

 

The student groups engaged in stick-based attacks throughout the night, according to the information provided.

 

A video capturing the incident depicted students engaged in attacking one another.

 

The Left-wing students accused the ABVP student wing of causing disturbance during the meeting, while the latter claimed that the Left-wing attempted a "Naxal attack" on the campus.

 

ABVP president Umesh Chandra Ajmera attributed the clashes to disputes over the selection of members for the university's election, mentioning that two members had been finalized before the clashes erupted.

 

A Left-wing student alleged that the attack was one-sided, stating that she was beaten with sticks and that two other students were hospitalized as a result of the incident.

 

The Delhi Police stated that they had received complaints from both sides regarding the incident and confirmed that investigations were ongoing.
