Five students of class 9 and 10, were detained by Hyderabad Police for allegedly sexually assaulting their 17-year-old classmate in Hyderabad.

The accused recorded the incident and also shared it on WhatsApp, police said.

The incident dates back to August when the survivor was threatened at her home when her family members were not present, cops added. At that time, the accused recorded the act and ten days later, one of the accused with another boy again sexually assaulted the survivor.

Though the incident happened months back, on Monday, a complaint was filed after the survivor narrated her ordeal to her parents.

According to Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, the girl knew the boys and she was allegedly abused twice in August and filmed the act on the phone.

After the survivor’s family came to know about this, the girl informed her parents about what had happened. The parents then approached Hayathnagar Police Station and registered a complaint against the boys.

The complaint filed by the survivor stated that the boys used to roam in the outskirts of their locality after completion of their school timings and used to watch porn videos on their mobile phones.

"Since the girl also talked to them freely, they took it as an advantage and in August 2022 by putting her under threat at her home in the absence of her family members," the FIR read. Police have seized three cell phones from the possession of the accused as well.

Acting on the complaint of the girl's parents, police filed a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the IT Act.

Later on, during the course of the investigation, police detained the accused. They were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for further action.
