Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea by the makers of 'The Kerala Story'

CM of the Kerala said, the film is spreading hate propoganda against the state....


On Wednesday the Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea by the makers of 'The Kerala Story' against the ban imposed on the film by the West Bengal government and the decision of the Tamil Nadu multiplex association to withdraw it from its halls.

 

On May 12 the apex court will hear the petition.

 

'The Kerala story' is the story of a group of women who converted to Islam (through force deceit) they're from Kerala and go on to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

 

The controversy of film with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan saying that, the film is full of lies it aimed to create communal violence and spreading hate propaganda against the state.

 

On Monday West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a ban on the film in West Bengal, citing threat to law and order in the state. The Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners’ Association, meanwhile, withdrew it from multiplexes.

 

The BJP criticized Mamata for her decision, with Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Anurag Thakur, who said he had watched The Kerala Story, saying: “Mamata Banerjee has done injustice to the sisters and daughters of West Bengal by banning the film”.
