Surajkund Mela 2024 starts from today

The 2024 Surajkund International Crafts Mela, an annual fair by Haryana Tourism in Faridabad, promoting Indian handloom and handicrafts, commenced on February 2. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate the event, according to a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

 

DATE

The 37th edition of this mela started on February 2 and will conclude on February 18. Renowned as one of India's premier events, it joyously celebrates art, culture, and heritage.

 

TIME

Surajkund Mela 2024 will run from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, featuring the participation of over 20 countries, spanning South Asia, Africa, and Europe.

 

SIGNIFICANCE

Surajkund, meaning 'Lake of the Sun,' carries historical importance, named after the ancient reservoir built by King Suraj Pal of the Tomar dynasty in the 10th century. The Surajkund International Craft Mela, introduced by the Haryana government in February annually, aims to enhance tourism in the state. This event attracts a diverse audience, both nationally and internationally.
