T.N. Health Minister Reports 53 Dengue Cases in a Single Day

Public Health Alert as Dengue Cases Surge in Tamil Nadu


On Sunday, November 5, 2023, the Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ma. Subramanian, revealed that 53 individuals were diagnosed with dengue on that day. Additionally, he reported that 571 people are currently receiving treatment for the infection in government hospitals throughout the state. This information was provided during the Minister's inspection of the preparedness at Government Tiruvallur Medical College Hospital.

 

Mr. Subramanian mentioned that the number of infections this year is lower compared to the years 2017 and 2012. Out of the 3,15,796 individuals tested for the infection since January, a total of 6,222 people have tested positive, as reported by the Health Minister.

 

During special medical camps conducted across the State on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 359 individuals were diagnosed with fever, and an additional 149 people were identified with cold and cough. Mr. Subramanian reported that a total of 1,05,089 individuals received benefits from these medical camps held at 2,263 locations.

 

The Health Department announced plans to hold 10 weeks of special medical camps during the weekends to treat monsoon-related ailments. These camps coincide with the recent onset of the Northeast monsoon in the State.

 

The Health Department has scheduled special medical camps on the following dates: November 13, 18, and 25, and in December, the camps will take place on the 2nd, 3rd, 16th, 23rd, and 30th.

 

Mr. Subramanian announced plans to establish a cardiology unit at the Government Tiruvallur Medical College Hospital in the upcoming financial year.

 

Previously, the Minister conducted a review meeting with the district collector T. Prabhushankar, as well as officials from the medical college and hospital.
