Taliban claims victory in Panjshir, urges former Afghan forces to join its regime

The Taliban has warned against any kind of "insurgency" and said that anyone who tries to start it "will be hit hard."

The Taliban on Monday claimed victory over the resistance forces in Panjshir province, the last holdout of resistance against their takeover. The chief spokesman of the Islamist group, Zabihullah Mujahid said in a press conference in Kabul that with the victory, Afghanistan has been completely taken out of the "quagmire of war."

The Taliban has warned against any kind of "insurgency" and said that anyone who tries to start it "will be hit hard." Mujahid said that the Islamic Emirate is very sensitive about insurgencies and warned that they will not allow another.

The Taliban has urged former members of Afghan forces to join regime ranks. Mujahid said that they will be asked to "rejoin the security departments alongside Taliban members.”

However, the National Resistance Front (NRF) has denied the claims of the Taliban. The NRF has pledged to continue fighting in the Panjshir Valley "until justice and freedom prevails" in Afghanistan. It added that they are present in "strategic positions" to continue the fight.
