Taliban kills relative of DW journalist in Afghanistan

DW director-general Peter Limbourg sharply condemned the killing, saying this signifies the media professional people and their families were not safe in Afghanistan.


Taliban fighters in Afghanistan have shot and killed a relative of a Deutsche Welle journalist while hunting for him, the German public broadcaster said. The terrorists were conducting a house-to-house search for the journalist, who now works in Germany, DW said Thursday. A second relative was seriously wounded but others were able to escape, it said, without giving details of the incident.

Meanwhile, three DW journalist's houses were also assaulted by the Taliban. The government's quick help was asked by the DW and other German media organizations to help out the staff in Afghanistan. After capturing Kabul the Taliban has also bombed media freedom in absolved the rivals. Moreover, in an escalated way the Taliban are still finding people who work with US and NATO forces
