Telangana School Targeted After Students Asked About Saffron Attire

Outrage at Telangana School Over Clothing Inquiry Leads to Attack

A crowd destroyed a Christian school in Mancherial, Telangana, and hurt the staff because the principal told some students not to wear religious clothes.

Police are investigating after parents complained, and they've charged two staff members, including the principal.

Officials from Blessed Mother Teresa High School in Kannepalli village, located about 250 km from Hyderabad, reported that Principal Jaimon Joseph, originally from Kerala, noticed two days ago that some students were wearing saffron attire to school.

When he inquired, the students explained they were observing Hanuman Deeksha, a 21-day ritual. The principal then requested these students to have their parents come to the school for a discussion.

The situation worsened when a video was posted on social media alleging that the principal was banning Hindu attire at the school. Following this, a mob attacked the school. Videos captured men in saffron clothes chanting "Jai Shri Ram" and breaking windows, while terrified teachers pleaded for them to stop.

Police were seen attempting to manage the crowd and clear the mob from the school's hallways. Another video showed the mob throwing stones at a statue of Mother Teresa on the school grounds.

According to reports, some men surrounded Principal Joseph, assaulted him, and forcefully applied tilak on his forehead. The protesters are demanding an apology from the school.
