Telangana woman kills self alleging gang rape by four including policeman

A 23 - yrs woman was allegedly gang - raped


A 23 - yr. old woman committed suicide by consuming poison in Telangana's Mahabubabad district after she was accused of gang rape by four men, including constable. 

 

Based on the content of the petition, an FIR was registered under sections 376(d), 306, 354(d) of the IPC. 

 

A writ petition was filed at Nellikudur Police Station in Mahabubabad district on Wednesday, February 23. The petition alleged that the victim was gang - raped on February 16, when she had gone to her friend's house to stay for the night. She alleged that on February 17 too, she was raped again when she met the same friend. 

 

When she returned home on February 18, her brother saw her consuming poison at around 8 am. He immediately took her to the regional hospital in Mahabubabad. 

 

She died on Tuesday, February 22, while undergoing treatment. She alleged that she had consumed poison because she was gang - raped on February 17 & 18. 

 

One of the accused has been identified as a police constable, another accused is alleged to be the husband of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC). 

 

Police immediately took the 3 alleged suspects into custody and efforts are being made to apprehend the last suspect and the matter is being investigated.
