Temperature drops to 1.8 Degree Celsius In Delhi

Cold wave conditions intensified!


On Friday morning, 06 January 2023, the ongoing cold wave in North India intensified with parts of the National Capital recording a drop in temperature.

Aya Nagar, one of the peripheral localities in South West Delhi, recorded a temperature of 1.8 °C this morning, whereas the temperature in Safdarjung was 4.0°C.

Delhiites resorted to lighting up bonfires to find respite from the prevailing cold wave conditions.

Due to the increasing cold wave in the national capital, shelter homes have been opened for homeless people.

The homeless people in Delhi thronged to shelters in their areas to get a hint of respite from the ongoing cold wave that is sending shivers through the national capital region.

“We have 197 permanent shelter homes. During the winter season, we put up almost 250 tents in Delhi. Now, we've 190 functional tents & 50 are in standby mode.

Apart from mattresses and blankets. We also provide 3 meals a day to occupants,” said Vipin Rai, Member, and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, as quoted by new agency ANI.

As per the latest information from the India Meteorological Department, the cold wave conditions are expected to continue till Saturday, January 7, although it is likely that similar conditions may continue till January 11.
