Tempo driver abducted and robbed at gun point

Two men arrested for kidnapping, taking away valuables and demanding ATM PIN and dumping him on the road


On Thursday, two men accused of abducting and robbing a temp driver for his vehicles were arrested. The incident allegedly took place after an altercation between the tempo driver, Tek Ram, 22-year-old and three men amongst whom one is still missing. The group took Ram’s phone and pushed him inside the car before speeding away towards Najafgarh. They took away his valuables, demanded his ATM PIN. After robbing him they dumped him on the road.

The incident took place around 12:30 am on Monday when a white Santro brushed against the tempo transporting wooden planks in Dwarka. The car then slowed down and blocked the way of the tempo said the driver. The men then demanded a compensation. The driver was held at gunpoint, abducted and robbed of his cash and valuables by those three men.

Two of the men Dinesh Vashisht who is a resident of village Dichau kalan and his associate Puneet Solanki from Najafgarh were arrested. The third suspect who is on the run has been identified as Brijesh who is also a resident of Najafgarh. The police are still searching for the third accused and the investigation is underway.

According to the Delhi police records, till June 15 this year, 18 cases of snatching and six cases of robberies were reported every day across the city. As per the crime rate in Delhi, Mugging and robbery is moderately high. In response to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Delhi police claims Dwarka to the most unsafe and crime-hit area of the city.
