Temporary relief to Imran Khan

The BHC suspends the arrest warrant for Imran Khan for two weeks...

On 10 March 2023, the Balochistan High Court suspended the arrest warrant of Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan for two weeks that had been issued by the local court in a case registered against him in Quetta, Pakistan.

Following the case registered at the Bijli Ghar Police Station on a complaint by a citizen known as Abdul Khalil Karak, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued after the Quetta police team in Lahore arrested the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) chairman as per the court order in a hate speech case by Imran Khan related to inciting the public against state institutions.

A single bench of judges headed by Justice Zaheer-ud-Din Kakar heard the plea filed by the Iqbal Shah on behalf of the PTI chief and suspended the arrest warrant for two weeks on Friday.

Imran Khan is facing 37 cases against him in different parts of the country that include litigation, police, and federal investigation agency (FIA) cases under multiple sections of the Pakistan penal code (PPC) and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) of 2016.
