Ten innocent people have been killed, along with an elderly man and several militants, during a raid by Israeli forces in the areas of occupied West Bank, Palestinians health officials said.

Explosions and gunfire sounded as troops entered the heart of Nablus, triggering armed clashes with gunmen.

According to the Israeli military its forces surrounded building while looking for "wanted terror suspects".

A body in a street next to bags of bread was showed in video footage, which is usually a busy market area of the old city.

According to Health ministry, a 61-year old man, Abdul Hadi Abdul Aziz Ashqar and a 16-year-old boy Mohammad Farid Shaaban also killed.

By gunfire more than 100 other Palestinians were also wounded. In a local hospital seven among them are in a critical condition.

According to the Israeli military the three militants who were there targets of the raid, Mohammed Abdul Fattah, 23, a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Walid Dkhail, 23, and Hussam Isleem, 24, of the Lion's Den group.

As per military they were suspected of carrying out previous shooting attacks, including one last October in which an Israeli soldier has killed.

President Mahmoud, spokesperson of Palestine said the raid held by Israel's goverment is responsible for "this deadly escalation, which is increasing the region toward tension and an explosion.

Till now this year, at least 50 Palestinians, including militants and civilians have been killed, along with 11 people were killed due to attacks targeting Israeli in Palestine.
