The Great Khali Backs Farmers’ Protest

Khali backs farmers ‘Delhi Chalo’ march

The latest star from the entertainment world to back the ongoing farmers protest in Delhi is professional wrestler Dilip Singh Rana popularly known as The Great Khali.

The pro wrestler said “They will buy it (crop) for two rupees and sell it for two hundred rupees. The law will also harm daily wage worker, roadside vendors; the common man will suffer. I will appeal to everyone to support the farmers so that center is forced to accept their demands. It will be tough for the Center to deal with the farmers of Punjab and Haryana” .

Artists from Punjab have already shown their support to the protesting farmers and many have joined the farmers in the Delhi border too. Singer Sidhu Moosewala and singer song-writer Babbu Mann have supported the farmers. The singers who have joined the farmers at the Delhi borders are Kanwar Grewal and Harsh Cheema. Popular singer of the Northern India Jasbir Jassi had extended his support to the agitating farmers.

The farmers braved lathi-charge, tear gas shells, water cannons and barricades on the way while marching towards Delhi last week. The law and order facility which is taken care of by the Central Government in the capital city didn’t allow them to enter Delhi at first and later designated them a protest site in the outskirts of Delhi near Burari. The farmers have refused to move to the government designated sites for their protest and have moved to the borders of Delhi hindering the traffic movements.

The talks between the Agriculture Minister Narendar Singh Tomar and farmers representatives on Tuesday at the Vigyan Bhavan could not come to a conclusion and the farmers were then called for a meeting on Thursday to find solutions and stop their protests.
