Indian Army rescues more than 1,000 tourists


The Indian Army has rescued more than 1,000 tourists trapped due to heavy snowfall at Changgu in East Sikkim with the help of the civil police and administration.

 

Nearly 100 vehicles carrying tourists got stuck while returning from Natu La and Tsomgo (Changgu) Lake, and approximately 370 people were rescued earlier on March 12.

 

Following the rescue operation the troops of trishakti corps collabs with the civil administration and lauch a rescue Mission 'operation himrahat' on 11 March. 

 

The official statement informed that all the tourists were moved to a safe place and provided shelter and other necessary needs such as medicine, meals, and clothing.The statement further added that the army is always proactive in providing assistance.to the people while guarding the border with high levels of security too.
