Transgender flight attendant of United Airlines found dead

She rose to fame after being featured in United’s ad in 2020

Kayleight Scott, a transgender flight attendant who rose to prominence after appearing in a United Airlines commercial, was discovered dead in her Colorado home on Monday, according to The Independent. The 25-year-old sent an emotional letter on her social media account, apologising to her loved ones and promising to "see you all again on the other side."

"As I take my final breaths and exit this living earth, I would like to apologize to everyone I let down," Scott wrote. "I am so sorry I could not be better. To those that I love, I am sorry I could not be stronger. To those that gave me their everything, I am sorry my effort was not reciprocated. Please understand that me leaving is not a reflection on you, but the result of my own inability to turn myself for the better," the flight attendant said.

Scott's friends reportedly called the police after seeing her Facebook post and asked them to conduct a welfare check on the flight attendant. Scott's death is currently being investigated by the Denver Police Department. The Denver medical examiner's office will make the final conclusion as to the cause of death, according to the police.

She had made headlines in 2020 after being featured in United's diversity campaign. She spoke on the significance of coming out and living truthfully in the video for Trans Day of Visibility. "I used to be so embarrassed about being trans," she explained, adding that "all I wanted to do was blend in."

Her mother, Andrea Sylvestro, also shared a heartbreaking post on her social media in memory of her daughter.
