Truck runs over people sleeping on divider in Delhi’s Seemapuri; 4 Died

3 severely injured!


On Wednesday night, At least four people died and three sustained injuries after a truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a road divider in Delhi’s Seemapuri. The police said that several teams have been formed to trace the truck.

According to the police, two died on the spot and four people were shifted immediately to GTB Hospital, where one was declared brought dead and the other one breathed his last during the initial treatment.

At 1:51 am, an unknown speeding truck mowed down 4 people and injured 2 people who were sleeping on the road divider while crossing DTC Depot Red Light in Seemapuri.

Two people died on the spot, one was declared dead by the hospital and the fourth died during initial treatment,” the police said.

“The 4 deceased persons have been identified as 52-year-old Kareem, 25-year-old Chotte Khans, 38-year-old Shah Alam and 45-year-old Rahul.

The two who were injured are 16-year-old Manish and 30-year-old Pradeep. Several teams have been formed to trace the vehicle involved. A case has been filed under appropriate sections,” the police said.

According to the 2013 global survey of traffic collisions by the UN World Health Organization, India suffered a road fatality rate of 16.6 per 100,000 people in 2013.
