Twitter Donates 15 Million to India to fight Covid 19


Rising Covid-19 cases have led to a scarcity of resources, medical equipment, medicines, treatment, beds, availability of hospitals, and chaos. Meanwhile, Microblogging giant Twitter has donated USD 15 million to help India in these tough times.

In a statement, CEO of Twitter Jack Patrick Dorsey tweeted on Monday that money has been donated to three non-governmental organizations - Care, Aid India, and Sewa International USA. The non-governmental organization CARE has been given USD 10 million, Aid India and Sewa International USA have received USD 2.5 million each. Whereas, “Sewa International”, a non-profit service organization of Hindu faith-based, has been also helping in supporting with the necessary equipment and machines as “Sewa International’s help India Defeat Covid-19 campaign”.

The Houston-headquartered Sewa USA has helped in raising USD 17.5 million towards its India COVID-19 relief efforts. Care is one of the largest and oldest humanitarian aid organizations focused on fighting global poverty. As per Twitter, 10 million will support CARE's urgent action to help address the deadly second wave of COVID-19  noxious situations in India. Funds will be used in providing the necessary stuff like PPE kits and other critically needed emergency supplies for frontline health workers and in helping people to get vaccinated added. Other organizations like AID partner with grassroots organizations in providing interconnected areas of livelihood, education, and all the other sectors. The organization will also help in all medical equipment in strengthening hospitals and NGOs that serve rural and low-income communities, Twitter added.
