Two Dozen Women Were Attacked With Sharp Blades

We All Praise And Respect Goddess Durga But Do Not Respect And Protect Our Females.

Durga Puja is one of the largest festivals celebrated grandly in India. In this auspicious 9 days event we praise goddess Durga, but in Jehanabad district of Bihar, this Durga Puja turned out to be a horrific experience for approximately two dozen women who were attacked with sharp blades by a group of antisocial elements at the local mela organized in the town.

This incident took place in the evening of October 25, 2020, during the annual Dussehra mela which was organized in Thakur Bari area of Jehanabad.

During the investigation, some eyewitnesses said that most of the women who were injured in this attack were between the age group of 20 to 30. Most women were attacked below their waist which left them bleeding.

This attack on the women made a chaotic situation in the Mela; people were trying to leave the spot in haste.

Soon after this incident, the local administration reached the spot and took all the injured women to a government hospital, where they are being treated.

District magistrate of Jehanabad, Alok Ranjan Ghosh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Kumar said "We are trying our best to identify the people responsible for this attack, we will arrest them soon." to India Today TV. The Police are checking the CCTV footage placed in the Mela where this horrible incident took place.

The local citizens have vented out their anger against the district administration. “This is the third consecutive year when the women and girls were attacked horribly by some unknown people. We kept informing our administration about this matter from past two years but they didn't take the issue seriously because of which it happened again this year” said a localite present there.
