Uber to start new feature to Book Rides Via WhatsApp in India

WhatsApp users can Click a link directly to open an Uber WhatsApp chat


Bengaluru: On Thursday, 02 December 2021, U.S. based company Uber Technologies Ltd said, they are going to introduce a new feature that will allow users in India to book rides via messaging service WhatsApp.


This step can help Uber tap into the more than 500 million user bases of Meta Platforms-owned WhatsApp in India.


Uber said in a blog post, "Starting this week, we are rolling out a new service that gives people the option to book an Uber ride via an official Uber WhatsApp chatbot."


Uber has been an easy and famous interacting app in India for the past eight years and is now available in 70 cities as well.


Uber further added, "Riders will now no longer need to download or use the Uber app. Everything from user registration, booking a ride, and getting a trip receipt will be managed within the WhatsApp chat interface."


WhatsApp will able to book a ride through messaging to Uber's business account number, scanning a barcode, or clicking a link directly to open an Uber WhatsApp chat.


The Uber company said, Same safety features and insurance protection will be provided to Riders as those who book trips via the Uber app directly. The WhatsApp chat will inform the users about safety guidelines and how to contact Uber in case of emergencies also.
