Uddhav Thackery resignation over feuds within the Shiv Sena...

39 MLA's stood against Mr. Thackrey

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra along with his team of 15 MLAs, requested the court to let go of the floor test called by the Governor of the state.

However, The Supreme Court has ruled that the rest of his verdict on July 11 will determine whether the fraction of MLAs will be disqualified as Mr Thackrey has requested. A total of 39 MLAs of Mr Thackery’s own party have turned their back on him, which is now led by Eknath Shinde, a senior leader of the Sena.

The 39 MLAs who have stood against Mr Thackrey claim that their fraction of the party, which is much bigger than Mr Thackrey’s, is now the real Shiv Sena. They wish to quit the current government and re-ally ties with BJP.

Reports have suggested that Mr Shinde is going to be the deputy Chief minister. A week ago, Mr Shinde revolted with several MLAs as they exited Mumbai and headed towards Gujarat to show their evident support for BJP. Later as the members flew to Guwahati the party eventually split in high numbers, 39 of them wanted Mr Thackrey’s removal as the president of the party.

Mr Shinde’s alliance has been receiving support from BJP and a few independent MLAs to support him outnumber the ruling government. Mr Shinde’s side justifies Mr Thackrey’s removal over his cordial relations with non-BJP parties and that it defeats their ideologies.

Mr Thackery, in response to Mr Shinde’s revolt, stepped out of the Chief Minister’s place to encourage his followers that he was indeed wedded to the party and not to rule. Although he has made comments about resigning as the current Chief Minister, Sharad Pawar has been convincing him to contest in this power battle.
