UGC DECLARES LIST OF 24 FAKE UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA: Highest count from Uttar Pradesh.

The highest number of Fake Universities in UP.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared the list of  24 fake universities. A maximum number of fake universities or unrecognized universities are from Uttar Pradesh (UP) .
According to UGC, they warned students by stating that  “A degree can be awarded, only a University established under a Central, State/Provisional Act or an institution deemed to be university”.
According to an official notice, it said, “Students and public at large are hereby informed that presently following 24 self-styled, unrecognized institutions are functioning in contravention of UGC Act, which has been declared as fake universities".

From the Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine to the Indian Institute of Science and Engineering — several institutes having names similar to that of premium education institutes have been termed as "Fake " by the UGC.

List of 24 fake universities :

List from Delhi are:-

•Commercial University Ltd Daryaganj Delhi
•United Nations University, Delhi
•Vocational University, Delhi
•ADR-Centric Juridical University, ADR House
•Indian Institute of Science and Engineering,New Delhi
•Vishwakarma Open University for Self-employment, India
•Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University)

List from Karnataka are:-

•Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society, Gokak

List from Kerala are:-

•St John’s University, Kishanattam

Maharashtra are:-

•Raja Arabic University, Nagpur

West Bengal are:-

•Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine,Kolkata
•Institute of Alternative Medicine and Research,Kolkata


Uttar Pradesh are:-

•VaVaranasianskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi
•Mahila Gram Vidyapith/ Vishwavidyalaya Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith, Prayag
•National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy, Kanpur

Chief Secretaries and other officers of the states are directed by the UGC to take actions against these 24 fake universities
