Ukraine Row: Capital Heard Of Gunfire's, Explosions

137 people died in Ukraine by Russian Forces.

Amidst the Russian-Ukraine tension, the Russian forces moved deep into Ukraine on the second day of the invasion with explosions heard in the capital that the besieged government described as "horrific rocket strikes". At least 137 "heroes" have died since Thursday, Ukraine has said.

According to an official report of news agency AFP, two loud blasts were heard in central Kyiv early Friday. Ukraine's army said that Russia fired on civilian areas of Kyiv but that Ukraine's air defence systems repelled "two deadly gifts", according to a post on its verified Facebook page.

After the capital heard of the explosions, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister tweeted, "Horrific Russian rocket strikes on Kyiv." Adding that "Last time our capital experienced anything like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by Nazi Germany. Ukraine defeated that evil and will defeat this one."

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to stay in Kyiv as his troops battled Russian invaders in the biggest attack on a European state since World War Two. "(The) enemy has marked me down as the number one target," Zelensky warned in a video message. My family is the number two target. I will stay in the capital. My family is also in Ukraine," he said.

The continued Russian aggression against Ukraine showed that sanctions imposed on Moscow by the West were not enough, he said, adding that they are defending their country "alone".

Taking notes from the violence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin late Thursday, appealing for an "immediate cessation of violence". The conversation came hours after Ukraine's urgent appeal to India for intervention.
