Unacademy teacher sacked due to ‘political pressure’?

Karan Sangwan claims ‘my profile has been deleted’

The educational technology company Unacademy fired Karan Sangwan, claiming that the classroom is not the appropriate place for discussing personal opinions and views.

The Unacademy teacher, Karan Sangwan, claims that he did not identify any names or parties when he urged students to vote for educated candidates during a class. He believes that his dismissal was the result of "political pressure" from the institution.

Unacademy stated in a statement that the classroom is not the appropriate setting for discussing personal beliefs. Sangwan's breach of contract, according to Unacademy co-founder Roman Saini, forced the company to fire him.

After being fired, Sangwan stated in an interview with India Today that he attempted to contact Unacademy's top management but was told "we cannot do anything." "I have worked with Unacademy since 2021. My profile has been removed. Political pressure can exist, according to Sangwan.

Sangwan has launched his own YouTube channel and stated that he will broadcast information regarding the topic on August 19.

"I had no notion that a video would go viral and be misrepresented. And how it would be shared on social media. I was misunderstood, Sangwan claimed, according to India Today. "I said something broadly. I can show people the right path. I want well-informed people. People don't learn about education in school. I am teaching what I have learned in class, Sangwan stated.

Sangwan was heard pleading with the kids to choose educated leaders in a video clip that quickly became popular on X (previously Twitter). The teacher seemed to be speaking to the recent measures that the BJP-led union government had introduced in the Lok Sabha to replace the Indian Evidence Act, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the IPC, all of which date back to the British era.

Sangwan laments that the criminal laws notes he had written are now useless, adding, "Even I don't know whether to laugh or cry because I also have a lot of bare acts, caseloads, and notes that I had prepared. Everybody has to work hard. Additionally, you now have a job.

In order to avoid having to go through this (ordeal) again, remember to vote for someone who has a good education the next time you cast your ballot. Choose a candidate who has knowledge of the issues. Vote against somebody who is solely familiar with name changes. Sangwan is heard telling his kids to make wise decisions in the video.

Sangwan, however, insisted that he stands by his assertions since he believes that education is crucial to everyone's success in life.

I received trolling. My reputation has been tarnished. A challenge has been made to Unacademy. The removal of me may have been the result of pressure, he continued.

Sangwan added that he made the claim on his YouTube channel, "Legal Pathshala," which has since changed its name to "Karan Sangwan," rather than in a Unacademy class.

What was said by Unacademy?

In a tweet about the subject, Saini stated that Unacademy is a platform for education that is devoted to providing top-notch instruction.

To ensure that our students have access to fair knowledge, we have put in place a stringent Code of Conduct for all of our educators. Everything we do is centered on our students. Personal thoughts and opinions should not be discussed in class because they may inadvertently impact the students. As a result of Karan Sangwan's violation of the Code of Conduct, we were compelled to split ways with him under the current circumstance, Saini stated.
