Unhitched Container Killed Two Men

A heavy container fell from the truck


The accident took place in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. A container atop a truck knocked off and fell down crushing White Honda city under the flyover killing two men along with the driver around 3:45 am. Both men were found dead by the time tanker was removed from the car. The truck driver has been arrested. The victims, Ankit Malhotra and Ranjan Kalra both aged 35-year-old worked in an event management company Delhi. There were partners for 5 years. They were heading towards the airport to catch the flight for Kolkata when they hit the accident.
 

Malhotra lived in Karkardooma and was going to pick Kalra from his residence in Lajpat Nagar. The police said that the truck driver was taking a turn when the container unhitched from the truck and landed on the car roof, overturning the truck as well. The Traffic police officer and Delhi fire service were immediately called on the spot and with large Hydra cranes, a JCB and two small cranes to remove the container which was filled with rice bags. It took hours to rescue the men from the car. After they have been pulled out, they were taken to the nearest hospital where they were declared dead. A case has been registered under IPC section 279 ( rash driving ) and 340(causing death by negligence) at Lajpat Nagar police station against the truck driver Vipin Yadav (25) who carried Basmati rice from Punjab to Tughlaqabad.
