UP CM Yogi reacts to Boycott Bollywood Culture

‘Filmmakers should be careful with what they depict’…

Film Pathaan’s song, Besharam Rang had run into a controversy after some politicians claimed the song had insulted the saffron colour.

Soon after that, there were several calls for boycott made for the film. Certain cinema halls in parts of the country were also vandalised on Pathaan's release day, which was January 25.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now opened up on the Boycott Bollywood trend as well as the Besharam Rang controversy. In an interview, he said that filmmakers should be careful with what they depict on screen.

In the interview, Yogi Adityanath said that the filmmakers should also take into consideration while making a film that it should not have scenes that could give rise to controversy or hurt public sentiments.

“Any artist, litterateur, or anyone with accomplishments should be respected. Uttar Pradesh has also made a policy for films and many films are being made in the state,” he added.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath was earlier on a two-day visit to Mumbai where he met many celebrities including Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Boney Kapoor,Kailash Kher, and Sonu Nigam, among others.

He held a meeting with them with the prospect of extending subsidies to filmmakers to come and shoot in Uttar Pradesh. During the meeting, Suniel Shetty asked the CM to help stop the boycott Bollywood trend from the viewer’s mind.

The actor said that 99 per cent of Bollywood does not take drugs and rather focus on hard work to reach out to the people and thus, it is important that the trending hashtag of #BoycottBollywood be done away with to restore the polished image of the Bollywood industry.
