UP Govt announces 2-day relief from night curfew in view of Krishna Janmashtami

UP CM will also visit Mathura, Monday evening to participate in the Janmashtami festivals.


The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced relaxation in night curfew on Monday and Tuesday across the state in view of Krishna Janmashtami.

As per the information, the state government has lifted all the curbs for 2 days in the state, night curfews which remain in force between 10 pm to 6 am.

According to the statement,  Avinash Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) said, "the festival of Janmashtami will be celebrated across the state, including all police lines and jail, with full enthusiasm and vigour as per the tradition." He also said that all Covid-19 protocols would be followed during the celebration. He added that all devotees will be required to wear masks and use sanitisers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also directed the officials to tighten the night curfew in the states witnessing an increase in Covid-19 cases. Whereas the Chief Minister will also visit Mathura Monda evening to participate in the Janmashtami festivals.

Whereas Mukul Goel, Director General of Police has instructed all the police commissioners and district police chiefs to remain on alert and keep an eye on rumour-mongering and also to remain aware on social media.
