UP: Schools, colleges to remain closed on Friday, Saturday amid incessant rainfall

The IMD predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain in several parts of the state for next 33 hours.


Several states are witnessing incessant rain for the last few weeks and heavy rainfall has led to the closure of schools and educational institutions. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government announced closure of schools and colleges on Friday and Saturday amid heavy rainfall in the state. The IMD predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain in several parts of the state for next 33 hours.

As per the information, Lucknow District Magistrate, Abhishek Prakash informed the people to remain inside their houses due to heavy rainfall. Whereas according to the state police, 12 people lost their lives in incidents where houses collapsed in Fatehpur, Pratap Garh, Kaushambi, Jaunpur and Barabanki districts due to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, few areas of Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing water logging issues across the state and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also said strong gusts of wind will occur at a speed of 87 kmph in several states.
