US: 1 dead, 12 injured in Kroger supermarket shooting

A shooter opened fire inside a supermarket near Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday that killed at least one person and injured 12 others before he shot himself dead, the police said. The incident occurred at a Kroger grocery store in Collierville, near Memphis.

Police Chief Dale Lane said that a person was killed in the attack while the shooter died of a "self-inflicted gunshot wound." He also said that other victims had sustained severe injuries due to which the death toll may rise.

He added that people had tried to flee from the site and some were even found hiding in freezers and offices. Mr Lane said that the FBI and other agencies were investigating the incident.
