US Navy Conducts Freedom of Navigation Operation in Indian Waters Without India’s Consent

Patrolling in the region of India and then issuing a statement is very unusual. India considers the United Nations Convention on Law at Sea, not US. Foreign Ministry said - no other right in the exclusive economic zone.

The Foreign Ministry of India has said that according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, India has a clear stand that there is no right of any other in the Exclusive Economic Zone. Without the permission of that country, no exercise can be done there.

The American Navy announced that it had campaigned in India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), called the Freedom of Navigation, without obtaining permission. The US Navy has been continuously doing such patrolling in the South China Sea to challenge China's territorial claims, but it is highly unusual for such patrolling in the territory of India and then issuing statements. India follows the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea while the United States has not signed it.

American Navy said that the Freedom of Navigation operation was done according to international laws to emphasize the right, freedom and legal use in the sea. This was done by challenging India's excessive maritime claim. It was also said that American forces continue to operate in the Indo-Pacific region. All operations are performed according to international laws to show that wherever the law allows, the United States can fly, operate in the sea.

India 's Foreign Ministry has said that according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, India has a clear stand that the exclusive economic zone does not have the right of any other. Without the permission of that country, no exercise can be done there. The USS John Paul Jones was constantly being monitored from the Persian Gulf to the Malacca Straits. We have shared our concerns with the US government about its passing from our EEZ. However, the US operations are not about any one country nor does it have any political meaning.
