US Woman Home Mistakenly Demolished

She got to know after returning from Vacation...

A woman in the United States filed a police complaint after her family home was mistakenly demolished while she was away on vacation.

Susan Hodgson was alerted by a neighbour via phone call while she was on holiday in Atlanta, informing her that her property was being bulldozed.

She recalled her neighbour asking, "Did you hire someone to demolish the house next door to mine…"

Hodgson told the Associated Press, "I responded with 'no,' and she informed me, 'Well, there's someone over here who just demolished the entire house and razed it to the ground.'"

The neighbor confronted the worker demolishing the house, and he was rude, telling her to mind her own business. Hodgson then sent a family member to check, and it turned out the person in charge had the wrong address when he reviewed his permit.

Upon her return to Atlanta, Hodgson found her family home replaced by a pile of rubble. She's still in shock, stating, "It's been boarded up for 15 years, well-maintained, taxes paid."

"I'm furious," she added. "I keep waking up wondering if this is all some kind of joke. I'm just in shock."

The person who demolished the house left everything behind and left. Hodgson found it in a chaotic state with nothing removed. She's reported it to the police and hired a lawyer.

The company behind the mistaken demolition, known as "You Call It, We Haul It," informed Fox 5 Atlanta that they are 'investigating' the incident and are committed to 'fixing the situation.'
