Uttar Pradesh to allow Kanwar Yatra from July 25

Uttar Pradesh to allow Kanwar Yatra from July 25 and only five people will be permitted inside a temple at one time, social distancing and wearing masks will also be compulsory.


The Covid-19 situation has created an alarming situation in the country, where many festivals and Yatra have already been cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 cases and public gatherings have been prohibited.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh will allow Kanwar Yatra from July 25. According to the report given by the Times of India, it said, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to prepare guidelines for conducting Covid-19 protocols. Talking About Kanwar Yatra during the Hindu calendar month of "Sawan" every year the Shiva devotees also known as kanwariyas, fetch the holy waters of Ganga to offer at the shiva temple. During this time the pilgrims visit Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch the holy waters of Ganga and after this, water is offered to lord shiva.

According to the Government's official statement, "The yatra is scheduled to begin from July 25. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that Uttar Pradesh officials should speak to their counterparts in Bihar as there is significant movement of Devotees between our two states, and ensure that there are no violations of Covid protocol. The home department has been  asked to formulate a detailed guideline for regulating the yatra this year."

As per the officials only five people will be permitted inside a temple at one time, social distancing and wearing masks will also be compulsory. "

Earlier, the Uttarakhand Government cancelled the Kanwar yatra from Haridwar on July 2 given the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
