Uttarakhand declares three-day state Mourning over Demise of Gen. Bipin Rawat

Helicopter crash!


On Wednesday, the Uttarakhand Government declared a three-day state mourning over the demise of Chief defence staff General Bipin Rawat.

 

The tragic incident took place on Wednesday, when General Bipin Rawat, His wife, and 11 others were killed in a helicopter crash. This took place near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, said the Indian Air force (IAF).

 

According to the statement given by Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami he said, "he will be proud son, the Country will always remember the courageous decisions taken by him for the security of the borders and the contribution made by him to keep the morale of the armed forces always high." The Chief Minister has declared a three-day state Mourning from December 9-12. He also prayed to the departed souls. Terming the sudden death of Rawat is an irreplaceable loss to the Country.

 

General Bipin Rawat was born in Pauri on 16th March 1958 and he belonged to the Saina district. Growing up in a family that had been serving the Indian army for multiple generations. The Rawat's are survived by daughters Kritika and Tarini.

 

Rawat has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal,Vishisht Seva medal,Yudh Seva Medal, and Sena Medal. He also served in different terrains including the northern and eastern commands. He has also been in taking some of the most stringent steps against Pakistan and being instrumental in reducing militancy in northeast India.
