Uttarakhand Government Suspends Char Dham Yatra: Covid-19


The second wave of Covid-19  pandemic has hit the Country and has killed many lives. On the other hand, Uttarakhand Government has suspended the Char Dham Yatra due to  rise in Covid-19 cases. 

Chief Minister, Tirath Singh Rawat on Thursday said that "only priest of the four temples will perform the ritual and puja this year". Earlier the State Government has given its green signal to hold the annual Char Dham yatra which was to be started from 14th may. The State Government had already started preparation with all Covid-19 guidelines and protocols, the Government had also made Negative RT-PCR mandatory for the devotees.

As per the information, Last year 800 pilgrims visited Kedarnath,1200 for Badrinath 600 for Gangotri and 400 for Yamunotri. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Government was to limit the number of Pilgrims for this year.

According to a State Health Department bulletin, it said that Dehradun district accounted for the maximum number of 2,329 cases followed by Haridwar which reported 1,178 cases Udham Singh Nagar 849, Nainital 665, Chamoli 175, Pauri 174, Champawat 153, Almora 140, Bageshwar 128 and Tehri 109.
