change in Delhi Government vehicle policy

The rise in pollution level in the National Capital creates serious issues in the city whereas to reduce it, Commercial vehicles without Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags or inadequate balance in the tags will not be allowed to enter Delhi from July 1.

According to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), it said that RFID systems have been installed at all 124 toll plazas in the city for the collection of toll tax and environment compensation charges(ECC). It also said that the new RFIDs can be collected at 39 points of sale while the Municipal body has launched an app to guide the steps over RFID recharging. RFID was to be set up at 13 Toll Plaza in Delhi to control vehicular pollution from a commercial vehicle entering the national capital .13 Toll Plaza contribute about 70% of commercial vehicles entry into NCT of Delhi. But due to the covid-19 pandemic, the process slowed down while the vehicles took other diverted routes, evading these 13 toll plazas.

Meanwhile, South Delhi municipal corporation (SDMC ) was instructed to ensure our RFID compliance at all the 13 Toll Plaza with effect from January 1 and disallowed entry of vehicles without RFID tag or inadequate balance in the tag.
