Vinai Kumar Saxena To Take Oath As Delhi LG

Oath-taking ceremony to take place at 11 am!


On Thursday 26 May newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena will take the oath of office at the Raj Niwas, said the officials.

 

Invitations for the ceremony have been sent to more than 500 dignitaries, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues, high court judges, Union ministers, MPs, and MLAs, official sources said on Wednesday.

 

Ten Union ministers, including Home minister Amit Shah, have been invited to the oath-taking ceremony, sources said.

 

The Delhi Cabinet headed by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and top bureaucrats such as the newly appointed chief secretary Naresh Kumar, additional chief secretary Satya Gopal, the special officer, and the commissioner of the MCD Ashwani Kumar and Gyanesh Bharti respectively is expected to attend the ceremony.

 

Saxena, who held the post of chairperson of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), was appointed as the new LG of Delhi on Monday. Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Vipin Sanghi will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Saxena.

 

According to the information, The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended on May 17 the name of Justice Sharma as the new chief justice of the Delhi High Court. The oath-taking ceremony of Saxena will take place at 11 AM on May 26, officials said.

 

Saxena had started his career as an assistant officer in Rajasthan with JK Group and was elevated to general manager in 1995 to look after a proposed port project in Gujarat.

 

He was appointed as KVIC chairperson in 2015.
