VISA BLOCKED FOR VISITORS FROM JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA BY CHINA

DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS


Covid restrictions on Chinese travelers due to which China has stopped issuing short-term visas to individuals coming from South Korea and Japan.

 

According to Beijing on South Korea the pause on visas will remain continue till “discriminatory” restrictions against entry in China are lifted.

 

In China, where Covid cases are surging, Japan and South Korea are not the only countries imposing entry requirements on travelers from China.

 

Those who were coming from China, South Korea has cancelled issuing tourist visas to them last week, which the Chinese foreign ministry called “unacceptable” and “unscientific”.

 

Visitors who tested negative for Covid are currently allowing in Japan. Which is similar to UK and US, but Japan is also restricting flights to certain Japanese cities from China.

 

 New visa restrictions for visitors to China, has embassies by Beijing in both Seoul and Tokyo confirmed. On Sunday China re-opened its border for the first time since March 2020 in part of its policy “zero-covid”.

 

South Korea’s foreign ministry told the BBC that its policy towards arrivals from China was “in accordance with scientific and objective evidence”. Reacting to China’s latest visa restrictions.
