New Delhi: On Monday, 09 October 2023, the 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan will go to polls in a single phase on November 23, 2023, the Election Commission announced.
The results of the polls will be declared on December 3, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar informed the media house while announcing the polling dates for five states - Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.
The election in Rajasthan is crucial for the ruling Congress, as it comes months ahead of the 2024 general election.
The Congress has tied up with other Opposition forces under the INDIA bloc to put up a formidable fight against the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.
The Assembly polls in five states are, therefore, a major test for the Opposition parties and will put their coordination under the scanner.
In the 2018 election, the Congress had won 100 seats, one short of the total half mark. The BJP had suffered heavy losses, its seat numbers dropping from 163 to 73.
