Wall Collapsed in Pakistan, killed 10 people

Death toll of the incident has risen up to 21 since last week...


Pakistan: On Friday, at least eight women and three children were killed due to sudden mass panic while people were waiting in a line for their turn and started pushing each other at a Ramadan food distribution center in Karachi.

 

According to news agency, during the incident, some people fell into the nearby drain and also wall collapsed, which injured and killed people. On Twitter videos of the incident showed near a waterlogged pathway a bunch of slippers at the accident site while emergency team took stock of the situation. In another clip at the accident spot an ambulance and locals could be seen.

 

Today the death toll of the incident has risen up to 21 since last week. The factory owner who organised the food distribution center had not alerted the police about the plan, said a police official.  

 

A local resident, who lives near the factory told AP that people had gathered since the morning to collect the free food and he does not know what exactly caused the incident, but “we heard cries and later learned about this stampede.”

 

After authorities ordered deployment of additional police the deadly incident took place at the Ramadan food distribution centers to avoid dangerous overcrowding.
