WOMAN AND A BOY KILLED BY A POLAR BEAR, IN ALASKA

Polar Bear attacks on humans has increased Since 2000

In a remote Alaska village, a boy and a woman has killed by a polar bear, authorities said.

On Tuesday afternoon the bear was entered the village of Wales, on the western tip of the Seward Peninsula, and started chasing people, police said.

While it attacked the woman and boy, it was shot and killed.

In Alaska fatal polar bear attacks are rare along with experts say encounters with human will increase as more ice melts.

Wales is a small town, which mainly have the native Inupiaq people. Almost 150 people live in the remote areas, located over 1,185 miles in north-west of the capital Juneau state.

Polar bear had entered the settlement and chased multiple citizens, reports have indicated.

“The bear fatally attacked an adult female and juvenile male.”

Names of the victims were not revealed yet by police as family members were still being notified.

Once the weather allows, Police along with the state officials will travel to Wales for further investigation.

US studies have shown that the attacks of animals on humans are more likely as they moved inland due to their natural habitats begin to recede.

Since 2000, polar bear attacks on humans had increased. A 2017 study by The Wildlife Society found and when sea ice covered a smaller area, were more likely to occur between July and December.
