In-laws force a woman in Pune to have a child...

On 21 January 2023, a breathtaking incident came to light that a woman was forced by her in-laws and her husband to consume powdered human bones of dead people to conceive a child as a part of black magic suggested by a local Tantrik baba.

According to the complaint registered by the woman on Wednesday against 7 members of her family including her husband and the Tantrik baba at Sinhgad Police Station in Pune, Maharashtra.

The police came into action and registered the case under sections 498 a, 323, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following the complaint, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Suhail Sharma mentioned that the case will also log under section 3 of anti- superstition act (The Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013) against seven people. He further added that her in-laws took her to a Konkan region of Maharashtra for practicing Aghori under the waterfall.

As per the police information, the victim first registered the complaint of dowry in 2019, and in this second complaint, she told them that her in-laws forced her during Amavasya to intake dead person’s bones from a crematorium and indulge her in other superstitious activities in her house. 

The case is taken under the supervision of an ACP-ranked police officer, said DCP Sharma.
