Woman pushed into well, rescued after 3 days, survived

Woman survives 3 days with fracture after being pushed into well by Instagram pal

A 22-year-old woman spent three days in an open 60-foot-deep well with a fractured hand and without water and food in a village near Devanahalli after Instagram paramour allegedly tried to kill her by pushing her into it.

Amrita, a resident of a village near Malur in Kolar district, told the police that she got married to a private company employee, Ashok, three years ago and has a son. She became friends with the accuse,  Adarsha alias Adi, 22, on Instagram a month ago.

On Saturday, Amrita’s husband had been to work as usual and father-in-law and mother-in-law had been working on paddy field while she left her child to neighbours and left to meet Adi. However, she went missing from that day.

She arrived in Devanahalli on Saturday by bus. Adi received her and took her to a farmhouse belonging to one of his villagers in A Ranganathapura. “I reached Devanahalli around 5.30pm and he picked me up his scooter. He told me that he would show me his farmhouse and took me there. He started expressing his desire to marry me. I rejected his proposal, saying I’m already married and have a son. But he didn’t listen and started forcing me to marry him. He threatened to kill me if I rejected his proposal and pushed me into the well. He fled the spot, cursing me that I die there,” she told police.

Police said the woman survived because the well has died up and filled with bushes. The incident came to light when a farmer heard screams from the well. He informed police, who, along with fire and emergency personnel, rushed there and rescued her. The woman is undergoing treatment and is in serious condition at government hospital in Devanahalli.

Jurisdictional Vijayapura police have detained Adi for attempting to murder the woman by pushing her into the well in A Ranganathapura village, near Devanahalli, on Saturday.
