Women police personnel to be provided scooties in Bihar

Scooties will help them reach crime spots without wasting time

Women police personnel will soon be provided scooties so that on getting information about any crime against women and children, they can reach the spot immediately after receiving information.

The Bihar government has initiated the process to set up women help desks in all the police stations across the state.

According to the action plan prepared by the police headquarters, the women help desks will be operated by women police officers (Sub Inspectors) and constables.

In the first phase, 500 police stations of Bihar were identified and Rs 1 lakh was provided for setting up a helpdesk at each police station.

Under the Nirbhaya Fund set up by the Bihar government, financial assistance is being provided to all the police stations for the help desks and the state government has also sanctioned Rs 5 crore for this.

There are 1,196 police stations in Bihar and the remaining police stations will also be linked to this scheme in the second phase.

Bihar minister Sanjay Kumar Jha called this "Bihar government's initiative a good step in curbing crime against women and children."

Bihar minister Sanjay Jha tweeted, "Another important initiative inspired by the vision of Nitish Kumar. Soon, women policemen will be seen on scooty. 500 help desks will be run by women sub-inspectors. Another effort to ensure a prompt solution to the problems of women."
