World Asthma Day 2023

Asthma: A respiratory Disease

World Asthma Day falls on the first Tuesday of the month of May.

In 2023, the day falls on May 2.

Bronchial asthma is the most common respiratory disease affecting both youngsters and adults.

Nearly 3-5 percent of the Indian population suffers from asthma.

This states, there are around 4 crore asthmatic patients in India. Despite being a common health problem, it is often misunderstood and feared.

Asthma is a disease that can be completely controlled and people with asthma can live a normal life like others if managed properly.

This day tries to create awareness about asthma. The theme for World Asthma Day 2021 is 'Uncovering Asthma Misconceptions.' Read here as an expert explains severe asthma.

Asthma can be controlled, but cannot be cured in a vast majority of people. Nutritional supplements and non-allopathic forms of medicine also cannot cure the disease.

In their search for a permanent cure, effective medicines which control the disease are often stopped.

It is best to consider asthma as a disease that can be controlled, not cured.
