World Food Day is Celebrated on 16th Oct. every year to create awareness about hunger.


What is life without food? Will it be a happy and peaceful one? Well, Surely it wouldn't be as at the end of the day people work to fight hunger and basic needs. Many suffer to get en a single meal a day. Some have leftovers as the all-day meal. Some don't even get proper nutrients to enrich their body. Therefore, World Food Day is celebrated on October 16th every year to create awareness, to help people, and to have delicious food.
World Food Day is also celebrated as the anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. As the Diamond Jubilee (75th anniversary) of the World Food Day this year the organizations aim goal to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food.
Over 130 countries work together to create awareness about the hunger problems in the society. Several events and outreach activities held businesses, Non-Govt.Organizations, the media, the general public, governments. They promote awareness among the general public for those who suffer from hunger.
Due to a hunger report, nearly 690 million people are undernourished in the world whereas in India 189.2 million people are undernourished. By this measure, 14% of the Indian population is undernourished.
After pandemic COVID-19 there has been a great fall in the unemployment was seen. It swallowed many in that traps of hunger. People are fighting to have a single meal a day. Therefore the theme of World Food Day 2020 is "Grow, Nourish, Sustain.Together. Our actions are our future.”
According to the officials of FAO, they stated that "World Food Day 2020 will call for global cooperation and solidarity to help the most vulnerable to recover from the crisis. It will call on countries to build back better by making food systems more resilient and robust so they can withstand increasing volatility and climate shocks, deliver healthy and sustainable diets for all, and decent livelihoods for food system workers."
