HISTORY 

World Osteoporosis Day is closely tied to the inception of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). The IOF was founded in 1998 with the goal of addressing the widespread issue of osteoporosis, which is often underdiagnosed and undertreated.

 

World Osteoporosis Day began in 1996, and ever since, the International Osteoporosis Foundation has been a key advocate for diagnosing, treating, preventing, and researching osteoporosis.

 

THEME

The theme for World Osteoporosis Day 2023 is "Step Up for Bone Health - Build Better Bones."
