The construction of the world's highest rail bridge on Chenab was completed, a bridge that soars 359 meters above the bed of the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir which is 30 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Chenab bridge is the most challenging project in India faced by civil engineers. The notorious Arch bridge is part of the USBRL project which created a link between the Kashmir valley and the rest of India. The completion of the 111 k.m long winding stretches from Katra to Banihal, the bridge construction involved the fabrication of 28,660 million tonnes of steel, 10 lakh cum earth work, 66,000 cum concrete as well as 26 kilometers of motorable roads .Also, the overall weight of Arch is 10,619 million tonnes, and "telka" software is used for structural detailing.

The completion of the historic Arch work was seen by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal including Sunnet Sharma, Ceo cum Chairman, Railway Board, Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway through video conferencing.
