World’s longest River Cruise Launched

PM Narendra Modi will flag off Cruise from Varanasi...


On 13 January 2023, MV Ganga Vilas begin its journey from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and cover the distance of 3200 km to reach Dibrugarh in Assam trough Bangladesh in 51 days and will become the world’s longest river cruise and the first-ever cruise vessel made in India.

PM Narendra Modi will flag off the cruise via video call and lay the foundation stone for several other projects.

According to the official of port, shipping and waterways of this project is the symbol of Aatmnirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) in the river cruise sector.

During the flag off ceremony the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath will present their along with  Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways - Sarbananda Sonowal, with other Ministers and senior officials from various Ministries & Departments.

According to Sarbananda Sonowal, “This journey will give the foreign tourists an opportunity to engage and experience voyage and they will indulge in the different art, culture, history, and spirituality of India and Bangladesh together”.

He further added that MV Ganga Vilas will carry 32 tourists from Switzerland across 27 river systems and through various destinations located along the river banks in Varanasi, Patna, Kolkata, Bangladesh, Guwahati and Sibsagar/Dibrugarh.
